Winter market day done

What a market! A gorgeous sunny winter's day outside... and inside the hall was full of beautiful handmade wares and friendly faces. Thanks to each and every one of you that came down on Saturday, we're thrilled to see the handmade community getting such support in Bendigo. Some of the biggest crowds we've ever had, so wonderful!

Sneak peek: Vinyl Cuts

Another new face at The Square this market will be Vinyl Cuts, with their amazing range of jewellery made from old vinyl records. Their range includes necklaces, pendants, earrings, cuffs and brooches. They've also recently added adorable 2-tier and 3-tier cake plates to the range, also made from vinyl records. As these makers say "Thousands of records are going to landfill every week, so we thought we'd find prettier use for it. It's kind of rock 'n' roll but I like it!"

Sneak peek: Babushka Girl

Love Babushkas? You must stop by and say hello to creative lady Amanda of Babushka Girl who hails from Timmering, about an hour from Bendigo. We love her wonderful self-published colouring book filled with a new collection of original babushka drawings. Her stall will be filled with much Babushka cuteness... dolls, cushions, purses, bags, badges and more!

Sneak peek: Wink & Bid

Hello Friday! And a super sweet stallholder preview before the weekend... Wink & Bid is a brand new business with a whole lotta vintagey goodness. Check out these sweet purses, each one handmade featuring old doilies. The range also includes brooches, magnets and bookmarks.

Sneak peek: Rebound Books

Another new face at the market will be Rebound Books, tripping up to us from Melbourne to share their wares. These guys have a wonderful philosophy at the core of their business: to reuse discarded paper products and turn them into something functional, necessary and beautiful. They use unwanted, pre-loved hardcover books found in op-shops and fill them with blank 100% recycled Australian-made paper. The range includes journals, sketchbooks, photoalbums, a-z books and heaps more. Plus some super cute fridge magnets and bookmarks made from the spines of books!

Sneak peek: Nena Perrill steampunk & Victorian inspired jewellery

We are really excited to have a few new stallholders lined up for this market, makers that haven't retailled with us before. One of them is lovely Bendigo local Nena Perrill. I could try and describe her jewellery for you, but she does it so much better:

"Greetings good people, I am Nena Perrill and I make SteamPunk and Victorian styled jewellery.

I take my inspiration from a Victorian era that never really was, one peopled with inventors from the pages of Jules Verne and H G Wells... and re-imagined by mad scientists. I am a big believer in recycling and re-imagining things that I find. I have a lot of fun making my jewellery and I hope you like it..."
